Representative photograph of a highway food-court building beside an Indian expressway at dusk
A highway food-court and parking court, the kind of wayside building described on this page. Representative photograph of the kind of building described here. It is not a labelled photo of one finished Swati Constructions project.

Wayside amenities are the buildings people use when they leave an expressway for a short stop. A food court. Separate restaurants. A run of shopping. Toilets the public will actually use. Parking that can take cars and larger vehicles without blocking the way back to the road. Swati Constructions’ recent project is this kind of work, with NESCO, on the NHAI greenfield Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam expressway, on the Khammam–Devarapalle section. Devarapalli is another spelling you will see for the same section.

NESCO is the company we are building with. We do not describe ourselves as the concessionaire of the highway, and we do not publish NESCO’s lease or development figures as Swati Constructions’ contract. The scope we state is the one the firm was asked to state: restaurants, food courts, and shopping space. The longer project note is here.

Why this is not a town commercial building

A shop on a town street faces a footpath. A wayside building faces a ramp, a parking court, and people who will stay for forty minutes. The plan is driven by coaches and cars turning, by kitchens that need exhaust and grease control, and by toilets sized for a crowd that arrives together. The structural grid still has to be buildable, but the planning logic belongs to the project’s own planners and highway designers. We build within that set. We do not redraw the expressway access on a contractor’s website.

Kitchens are wet, hot, and heavy. Floors fall to drains. Walls behind cooking lines take a finish that can be cleaned. Exhaust routes are decided before the slab above them is cast. A food court with several counters needs a service corridor so stores and waste do not travel through the dining room. Shopping frontage needs a weatherproof edge and a signage zone that does not become a structural surprise. None of that is a brand. The brands that eventually trade there are not ours to announce.

What we build, and what we leave to others

Our work is the civil and architectural construction described in the drawings for those restaurants, food courts, and shops: structure, envelope, toilets, parking-related building work that is in our scope, and the services routes the drawings show. Fuel retail, highway operations, and the lease with the authority are not roles we claim. If a drawing asks for a capacity or a fit-out that sits with a specialist, that specialist remains responsible for their design. We coordinate the building around it.

The same site habits apply as on any Swati Constructions building. RCC as drawn. Waterproofing where water sits. Curing in the heat. A terrace or a canopy that sheds rain instead of holding it. An expressway building simply has more exposure and less shade.

Public toilets and the parking court need the same honesty. A toilet block that looks fine on opening day and has no fall to a drain will fail in the first monsoon. Parking bays that pond against the food-court door push people through water. Where those falls and outlets are in our drawings, we build them. Where they sit in the highway drainage design, we meet that design at the line we are given. Either way, the question is asked before the levels are locked, not after the first rain.

A current project, carefully described

We call this current and recent work. We do not announce the facility as open to the public, and we do not publish a completion date the contract has not asked us to publish. People looking for a meal on the Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam road should follow NESCO or the highway authority for opening information. People looking for a contractor who is building this type of space can call +91 94948 65865.

The rest of Swati Constructions’ work is houses, apartments, hospitals, and commercial buildings. The wayside page exists because the expressway job is real and because it is a different building type. The photograph is a representative highway stop. It is not a picture of the NESCO site, and it is not evidence that a particular counter is trading.

There is a longer explanation of the building type in the expressway article. Enquiries still go to Swati Constructions on +91 94948 65865.
